  Umbrella for Vulnerable is the nation non-government organization based in Rwanda, in its programs poverty eradication, it started the fishery project using dams, the project will empower the beneficiaries in income generating activities which led to the economic empowerment in terms of fighting illiteracy, covering medical scheme and malnutrition.

 

May Allah reward, protect, and bless the wealth of our Donor from BOTSWANA who help us to transform the some of vulnerable people in Rwanda through their Zakatul mal, may Allah by the Blessings of this holy months forgive our Donors all his shortcomings and guide his Family to the right path journey ending in JANAT AL FIRDAUS.

 

This project has been able due is the support from our partners/Donors from Botswana. Umbrella for Vulnerable is takes this opportunity to thank the donors and as long as the funds will be available from other donors/partners such kind of projects will be spread around the country.

Executive Summary
Brief Description of the Project:

The projects had two targets, skills trainings and income generation activity.

The two projects were implemented in two different areas such Ruhimbi cyiri in the district of Rwamagana and Musambira in the district of Kamonyi. These projects helped the beneficiaries to learn the sewing machines and same time their hired teachers can get orders and make income on behalf of the cooperatives.

Executive Summary
Brief Description of the Project:
The project entitled “Gacurabwenge Agriculture Project” was about to empower vulnerable women, who live Gacurabwenge sector in the district of Kamonyi, gathered in “Twisungane Cooperative”. These women are normally farmers and we found that they were missing some forces to increase their productivity and among those forces were what we provided to them such as land, hoes and accessories materials to dig, fertilizers, watering and seeds.

Aim

  • To buy land and other agricultural facilities and distribute to the cooperative.

  • Women empowerment through providing agricultural facilities.
  • Promoting agriculture
  • Increasing agricultural productivity
  • Creating income generating opportunities among families.

Executive Summary
Brief Description of the Project:

The project targeted the 90 families which were in 6 sites: Nyabwishongwezi, Bugarama, Gacurabwenge, Rubavu, Ngoma and Kiramuruzi. The projects were about livestock in the most vulnerable families that could help them in agriculture and husbandry. Each family got 5 goats composed of 4 females and one male; no one was allowed to sell the got until they produce.

To buy goats and distribute to the beneficiaries.

  • Promoting agriculture
  • Creating income generating opportunities among families.

Achievements:

  • The 90 families benefited the livestock projects can solve their daily problems in the area of agriculture (fertilizers) and livestock.
  • End of this December 2011, 150 goats have been acquired from first beneficiaries and distributed to the needy, which means other 30 poorest families got the goat where each family benefited 5 goats.

Executive Summary

Brief Description of the Project:

The project targeted the 50 women of Nyagatare in the Eastern province of Rwanda who gathered in the Cooperative called “Nyagatare Vision Cooperative”, These women are farmers and they grow maize, this project came to empower them in terms of transforming their production and increasing their revenues.

 

Aim

  • To put in place an income generation project.
  • Self reliance on Nyagatare Vision Cooperative

 

Objective

  • Empowerment through providing means of resources.
  • Empowerment through employment of women
  • Creating a class of women entrepreneurs
  • Creating employment opportunities among women

Date of Start : May 2010

Duration : 3 Months

Activity Undertaken

  • Purchase of land for the cooperative
  • Building a hall and fences for the cooperative
  • Purchase of maize mill machines and accessories for the cooperative
  • Implanting the machines to the site.

Beneficiaries / Users:

  • Vulnerable women from Nyagatare Vision Cooperative.
  • Local population of Nyagatare

Achievements:

  • 50 women from Nyagatare Vision Cooperative are self employed.
  • Nyagatare Vision Cooperative members can solve their daily problems and use the income from the project to feed the needy in the hospital of Nyagatare.
  • The whole population of Nyagatare benefit from maize mill machines as long as they use them for their production. (Before there was shortage of maize mill machines)
